CAIRO – 2 June 2019: Former Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid & Inter Milan coach, Jose Mourinho , believes that Salah can win prestigious award Ballon d'Or if he helped Egypt in achieving the 2019 AFCON title.

Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, played a massive role in his team’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at UEFA Champions League Final on Saturday night in Madrid.

The Egyptian opened the score from the penalty spot after two minutes and he has been sensational during the whole game.

Despite this, Mourinho believes that Salah is one step away from claiming the award.

"Salah have to win the 2019 AFCON title with Egypt if he want to get the Ballon d'Or," Mourinho said to BeIn Sports.

"It's an opportunity for Salah especially that the tournament will take place in Egypt," Mourinho added.

Salah became the first Egyptian player to win the prestigious trophy and the second Arab player to score in the final after Algeria’s RabahMadjer who scored for Porto in 1987 final.

Liverpool have had an outstanding season which ended with achieving the Champions League title after 14 years of absence.

Liverpool were also sensational at the domestic league as they reached 97 points but finished second behind the winners, Manchester City who reached 98 points.
