CAIRO-22 May 2019: Kayserispor Ghanaian striker, Gyan Asamoah, announced on Wednesday that he will make himself available for the Ghanaian national team squad that will participate at 2019 African Cup of nations in Egypt next June.

The player announced earlier his international retirement after the team manager, Kwasi Appiah, replaced him as Ghana captain by his teammate, Andre Ayew.

The shocking news forced Ghana president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to interfere to solve the conflict and he held a meeting with the Minister for Youth and Sports, the President of the GFA Normalisation Committee, and the Chair of the Management Committee of Ghana national team.

The president also held a conversation with the striker to convince him to rescind his decision.

“A presidential request is one that cannot be disregarded. I have taken the request of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in good faith, and will make myself available for selection by coach Kwasi Appiah to help win the AFCON trophy.” Asamoah tweeted on Wednesday.

Gyan, 34, is the most capped player in Ghana’s history and he is the Black Stars all-time goal scorer with 51 goals.

Ghana plays in Group F alongside Cameroon, Guinea Bissau and Benin.
