CAIRO – 8 June 2017: After finishing a long and exhausting season, African players in Europe were great ambassadors to the African football leagues in the 2016/2017 season.

Mohamed Salah was awarded a title for best individual performance player in a game in a fan-organized poll held on his team’s official website. The poll was conducted on June 6 after his performance against Bologna in the 12th round of the Italian league. Salah scored three goals, leading his team to victory in the match. Salah also secured 92 percent of the votes.

Ghanaian midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng was voted best Ghanaian player in Europe in the 2016/2017 season in an online poll conducted by Ghana Sports Online on June 1.

Prince garnered 40 percent of the total votes, defeating Christian Atsu and Frank Acheampong. The former AC Milan midfielder who recently joined Las Palmas in Spain managed to score 10 goals at the end of the Spanish La Liga.
