CAIRO - 13 May 2019: Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, led his team to finish second at the English Premier League after a fierce title race with defending champions, Manchester City.

Liverpool finished with 97 points after losing only one game during the league campaign but they finished one point behind Pep Guardiola's Manchester City who retained their league title.

Liverpool fans who followed their team 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton during the final game of the season did not have much to celebrate after Man City secured the title with a 4-1 victory in Brighton. However, the fans cheered on their players who dominated the league's individual awards.

The team defender, Virgil Van Dijk, won the Premier League Player of the season award after he transformed Liverpool's fragile defense into a rock solid defense that conceded the fewest goals this season.

Liverpool's goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, who is considered the team signing of the season won the Premier League Golden Glove award.

The fans also cheered on their strikers, Mohamed Salah and sadio Mane, after they shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having scored 22 goals each.

Salah won the award for the second year in a row to prove he is not just a "one season wonder".

Many sports media platforms insulted Salah after he suffered a goal drought between February and April and they said that he will never be able to perform like he did during his debut season.

Salah's performance during his debut season shocked the football world but during the second season he established himself as one of the best players in the world.

Salah is a big candidate to win the Ballon d' Or especially if he managed to win the UEFA Champions League title in Madrid and help Egypt winning the African Cup of Nations title at home in the summer.
