CAIRO - 27 April 2019: The Egyptian Football Association Competitions Committee, headed by Aamer Hussein, decided to stop the Egyptian Premier League on 2 June for the preparation of the Egyptian national first team to prepare for the 2019 African Cup of Nations hosted by Egypt during the period from June 21 to July 19.

The decision was taken as there are many foreign players in the Egyptian League who may be called for their national teams, especially that the FIFA Break will start on 3 June till 11 June.

Aamer Hussein assured the impossibility of canceling the Egyptian Premier League, noting that many of the difficult conditions and pressures have been overcome in order to be completed.

Egypt will host the African Nations Championship from 21 June to 19 July, with the participation of 24 teams for the first time in the history of the tournament.
