CAIRO – 6 March 2019: Liverpool Senegalese winger, Sadio Mane, revealed on Wednesday that he does not have a rivalry with his Egyptian teammate, Mohamed Salah.

“The media seem to expect there to be, but I can honestly say it isn’t even a competition for us. I think you can see that in our relationship both on and off the pitch,” Mane said.

Reports claimed that both Liverpool wingers are jealous of each other and that their relation affected the team's results.

Mane added, “We just want to win trophies with this team. That is the priority. I know other players in the world have a rivalry going for individual awards, but for us it isn’t something we think about too much.”

Salah won two consecutive CAF Player of the year in 2017 and 2018 and Sadio Mane came second in both years after the Egyptian winger.

Mane continued, “The fact we get short-listed for any individual awards can only be good for Liverpool and our countries because it means we are doing something right.”

Liverpool fans put all their hopes on Mane and Salah to win their first Premier League title since 1990.
