Al-Ahly to face Wydad Casablanca in African Champions League

CAIRO – 4 June 2017: Al-Ahly will play a tough match Sunday evening against Wydad Casablanca in the third round of the group tournament in the African Champions League.

The match will take place at Borg el-Arab Stadium with about 10,000 fans in attendance. The referee crew of the match will be headed by the Tunisian referee Yousef Al-Sarayri.

Al-Ahly is entering the match with high spirits after the official coronation of the Egyptian league championship a few days ago. Al-Ahly coach Hossam el-Badry will rely in the match on experienced footballers like Ahmed Fathy, Aly Maaloul, Agay, Abdallah El Saeed, Saad Samir, Hossam Ashour and goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy.

Badry spoke with his players during the past two days about the need to focus in Sunday’s match and not to give their opponents, Wydad Casablanca, any chance to make a goal, especially as the Moroccan team boasts some strong players.

Badry stressed the difficulty of the match, as it brings together the strongest teams in the group. He added that Al-Ahly’s players have the experience and the possibilities that qualify them to win and maintain their claim to the group’s top position.

Al-Ahly is the on the top of the champions’ league group with a one goal difference from Zanaco Zambia; each team has four points. After them is the Wydad Casablanca with 3 points followed Cameroon Coton at the bottom of the group with zero points.
