CAIRO - 9 January 2019: Fifty-five countries met in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, to choose their king for a year to come and found no better than Mohamed Salah for the second consecutive year.

The 55 countries crowned the Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah, and gave him the CAF Player of the Year title on January 8, 2019.

Salah topped a list that includes his Senegalese teammate in Liverpool Sadio Mane, and Gabonese Arsenal striker Pierre Emeric Aubamyang.

Salah is the first Egyptian player to be crowned twice in a row and twice in general.

Salah is only two titles away from the record holders, Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o and Ivory Coast's Yaya Toure who achieved the title four times each.

Thanks to Salah's victory, Egypt won three prizes;, one for Al-Ahly's current president Mahmoud el-Khatib and two prizes for Salah.

Consequently, Egypt surpassed Mali and Senegal, tied with Liberia and Algeria, and is only one prize away from Morocco and two from Nigeria.

In the first half of 2018, Salah participated with Liverpool in 23 games, scoring 21 goals and providing eight assists.

In the second half of the year, Salah participated in 27 games where he scored 16 goals and provided eight assists.

In 2018, Salah featured with Egypt in six matches, including three at the 2018 World Cup, scoring seven goals and provided two assists.
Salah also featured in the 2018 CAF Team of The Year.
