CAIRO –22 December 2018: Egyptian Football Association, EFA, announced that the Egyptian national first team will face Nigeria in a friendly match on March 26.

The Pharaohs meet the Green Eagles in their preparations for the 2019 AFCON next June.

Egypt also faces Niger in the last round of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers on March 22.

Egypt's coach, Javier Aguirre, insisted on playing two games next March especially that it will be the last matches before the final camp for the AFCON.

Egypt defeated Tunisia 3-2 on November 16 at the African Cup of Nations qualifiers thanks to a late goal from Mohamed Salah. This victory allowed Egypt to share the top position of their group alongside Tunisia, with 12 points each.

Aguirre was appointed as national team manager in August after the Egyptian Football Association decided to put an end to the era of national team manager Hector Cuper following the poor performance of the team at the World Cup.

Aguirre has won the hearts of Egyptian football fans after the national team's amazing results at the qualifiers.

CAF has announced the withdrawal of the African Nations Cup from Cameroon, because of the lack of preparations including check security, infrastructure, stadiums and accommodation.

EFA, headed by Hany Abu Reida, sent an official letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), requesting the organization and hosting of the 2019 African Nations Cup.
