CAIRO – 20 October 2018: Former English international, Alan Shearer, revealed his happiness with the English performance against Spain on Monday night in Sevilla at the UEFA Nations League, the game that ended with a 3-2 victory for England.

“In ten years, people will continue talking about that night in Seville; it was something I haven't seen in an England team for a long, long time,” Shearer told The Sun.

England had a fine display against the group leaders in front of their fans; the display that led to their victory which Shearer believes was better than World Cup semi-finals.

“Reaching the semifinal of the World Cup gave us all hope, but achieving such a performance in Spain has reinforced it," Shearer added.

England revived their hopes after the away victory and they gained 4 points reaching the second place, two points behind the leaders, Spain.

Spain will travel to Zagerb to face Croatia on November 15 and the English team hopes for a Croatian victory to reach the semi-finals before the group’s last game against Croatia in London three days later.
