Egypt loses to Croatia at U-18 World Handball Championship

CAIRO – 9 August 2018: Egypt lost to Croatia 31-24 in their second game of the 2018 Women's U-18 World Handball Championship on Wednesday night at Legionów Hall, Kielce.

The European team were the better side from the start and they ended the first half 15-11.

The Egyptian team tried to return in the game in the second half but Croatia increased the gap to win the game 31-24.

Egypt failed to achieve any victory in the tournament as they lost the opening game to Chile.

Egypt qualified for the World Cup as champions of the 2017 African Women's Youth Handball Championship in Ivory Coast.

Egypt’s squad for the tournament includes Nada Mamdouh, Samira Refaat, Rana Rady, Yasmin Emad, Sohila Khaled, Aya Tarek, Farida Hany, Shahd Ahmed, Laila Haitham, Yara Abol Dahab, Alaa Eslam, Salma Abdel Razek, Sandy Kassem, Habiba Goda, Farah Shazly and Lara Osama.

The World Cup draw put Egypt in Group B alongside Denmark, Hungary, Croatia, Chile and the 2010 World Cup winners, Sweden.

Poland hosts the competition in Kielce between August 7 and 19.
