CAIRO – 9 July 2018:The Paris 2018 Longines Global Champions tour –Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping has come to an end with an unexpected victory for Egypt’s Sameh El-Dahan on Saturday night in Paris.

On the straddle of Suma’s Zorro, the Egyptian has beaten Bertram Allen with Molly Malone V and then the world number one Harrie Smolders with Don VHP.
“I’ve been living in Northern Ireland for seven years now and this is my third five-star Grand Prix (highest level) victory, after Calgary (Canada) last year and La Coruna (Spain) this winter.”

“I have been riding Suma’s Zorro since it was seven, now at fourteen, we have won everything together,” Dahan told AFP.

“In general, I was used to good rankings around 10th place, so I did not expect to win in front of top riders.”

Now, Dahan has his eyes on the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon next September, where he hopes to be part of the Egyptian team alongside Abdel Said, Karim El-Zoghby and Nayel Nassar.

“On paper, we have a very good team with good riders and good horses. Our goal is to qualify for the Tokyo Games. I hope we can give a nice performance,” Dahan concluded.
