CAIRO – 23 April 2018: Arsenal confirmed on Monday that their Egyptian midfielder, Mohamed Elneny, has sustained ligament damage to his left ankle.

The midfielder is expected to miss the remainder of Arsenal’s season, but he will be fit to participate with Egypt at the World Cup in Russia.

“Thank you for all the love you showed, either in the field or outside it. Your support will make me want to heal faster and try my best to come back to play along with my mates in Arsenal and assist my national team,” the Egyptian tweeted on Monday.

Elneny was carried off the field during Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday after having stepped incorrectly with his left foot. He covered his crying face with his jersey on the way off.
