CAIRO – 29 March 2018: Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde revealed on Wednesday that he is calm about Lionel Messi’s injury that prevented him from playing with Argentina in friendly games against Italy and Spain.

“I am calm because we believe that it is not important at all. We won't worry beforehand; let's see what he has exactly," Valverde told press on Wednesday.

Messi, 30, returned to Barcelona on Wednesday and will appear at the club’s training sessions on Thursday to be ready for the Sevilla away game on Saturday night.

Valverde added, “Messi finished the last match against Athletic Club well, and we hope that it’s nothing serious."

Messi played Barcelona’s last game before the international break against Athletic Bilbao. He scored a goal to lead his team to a 2-0 victory.

Barcelona has reached the last stage of the season and Valverde needs all his players to be in their best form. “We will play in all of the competitions this month and we will see how the players are when they return from international duty,” said Valverde.

Barcelona leads the Spanish League with 11 points clear and they reached the Spanish Cup final and UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
