CAIRO – 23March 2018: Cairo Criminal Court decided to release Hamada el-Sayed, a player at Aswan club, on precautionary measures after being charged of joining a terrorist group, according to his lawyer Khalid al-Masry.

Sayed has been detained over security concerns last September; he was arrested on September 21 on his way home to Aswan after his team’s training session. He was deported to Cairo to complete the investigation.

According to multiple reports, Sayed was detained due to links to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic State.
Sayed played for several teams in the Egyptian league. He started his career at Suez Cement then moved to Arab Contractors before he settled in Aswan. He has more than 100 Egyptian league appearances.

Hamada featured in 24 games with Aswan last season but he failed, alongside his teammates, to avoid the relegation to the second division.
