CAIRO – 21 March 2018: Former Spanish International, Xabi Alonso, believes that Bayern Munich’s Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, should stay at his club and ignore offers from other clubs.

“He is definitely one of the best no.9s in the world; however, I think that he is best at Bayern,” Alonso told Marc on Wednesday.

Alonso shared Bayern Munich’s dressing room with Lewandowski between 2014 and 2017 before the Spaniard’s decision to retire.

Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid where Alonso had played between 2009 and 2014.

Alonso, 36, praised Real Madrid’s current manager, Zinedine Zidane, describing him as one of the most talented players in the history of the game.

“When I first played against Zinedine Zidane as a 20-year-old, I only thought 'Wow, what is that?' He managed to make difficult things look easy. I loved watching him play and hated playing against him," Alonso said.

Alonso faced Zidane when he was a youngster at Real Sociedad while Zidane was Real Madrid’s biggest star.
