CAIRO – 19 February 2018: Egypt’s national team goalkeeping coach, Ahmed Nagy praised Ismaily’s 25-year-old goalkeeper, Mohamed Awwad after his great performance with his club this season.

“Awwad is an amazing goalkeeper and he is very talented. He should keep improving to achieve his dreams,” Nagy told the Ismaily official website on Monday.

Awwad, 25 is an Ismaily academy product joining the club when he was 10. He got promoted through the club youth rankings until he joined the first team at age 20.

Awwad hopes to be a part of the national team squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Nagy added “Awaad is one of the main national team squad players. He was called for many camps before and he was on bench against Ghana at the World Cup qualifiers.”

Awwad competes with Essam el-Hadary, Ahmed el-Shenawy, Mohamed el-Shenawy and Sherif Ekrami to be one of the national team’s three goalkeepers for the World Cup.

The Egyptian national team manager, Hector Cuper witnessed Ismaily 2-0 loss to Enppi on Sunday night from Petro Sport stadium stands.
