CAIRO – 29 January 2018: Cristiano Ronaldo has some records to celebrate. The Portuguese forward now leads the penalty table of La Liga with the highest number of penalties scored; 72, according to Transfermarkt.
In Mestalla stadium, where Real Madrid beat Valencia 4-1, after less than 22 minutes, 'CR7' was granted two penalty shots to give his team the advantage, thus reaffirming his status as a specialist.
Overall, the Portuguese has scored the 101st penalty goal of his career in all competitions in Valencia’s net. His 76th penalty was while wearing a Real Madrid shirt, the 17th was with Manchester United and the 7th was for the Portuguese national team.
The previous leader of the penalty table was another Madridista: Hugo Sanchez, who scored 56.
