CAIRO – 7 December 2017: “André Gomes is not for sale and if he leaves, the club is obligated to bring me another player of the same level,” Ernesto Valverde warned on the eve of the game against Sporting.

“We want to continue with André Gomes. He will be a very important player for the next few years. He is a great footballer, with many qualities and we want to give him confidence because he can give us a lot,” the Barça coach said three days after the Portuguese player was discharged after being injured on October 31.

André played the whole 90 minutes of the match against his compatriots despite a month of inactivity.

Ernesto Valverde considers him a basic player for his project, to begin with.

It is worth mentioning that Barcelona tops the Spanish League with five points clear after 14 fixtures and they qualified for the Champions League knockout stage without losing any games.
