CAIRO – 27 November 2017: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Monday that Egypt’s national team coach, Hector Cuper, is nominated alongside four other coaches for the CAF Coach of the Year award.

Hector Cuper was appointed Egypt’s manager on March 2, 2015 and since then has led the Egyptian national team to regain their great reputation in African football.

Cuper led Egypt to qualify to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations after missing the last three tournaments, taking Egypt to the tournament final, where they lost 2-1 to Cameroon.

Cuper’s biggest achievement with the national team was qualifying to the 2018 World Cup in Russia after 28 years of absence, as Egypt last played in the World Cup in 1990 in Italy.

The other nominees for the award are L'Hussein Amoutta, who won the African Champions League title with Wydad Casablanca; Hugo Broos, who won the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon; Mihayo Kazembe, who achieved the CAF Confederation Cup with TP Mazambe; and Gernot Rohr, who qualified with Nigeria to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
