CAIRO –12 November 2017: Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala managed to score his first goal with the Egyptian national team against Ghana on Sunday in the sixth round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

He scored previously for Egypt in a friendly against Kuwait. Meanwhile, there was a celebration on the sidelines for the retirement of Kuwaiti star Abdullah Wabran. The match ended in a draw (1-1) in June 2007.

Shikabala's last appearance with Egypt came during the time that Shawky Gharieb was head coach of the Pharaohs. He participated against Tunisia in Egypt's 0-1 loss in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

The 31-year-old is having one of his best league starts with Al-Raed, as he has scored 5 goals with his first 6 appearances in the Saudi Professional League.

Egypt has already qualified to the World Cup since the fifth round after beating Congo 2-1 at Borg El-Arab Stadium. The national team still occupies the first place of the group, which includes Congo, Ghana and Uganda.
