CAIRO –12 November 2017: Morocco qualified to the World Cup for the first time since 1998 in France after beating Ivory Coast 2-0 on Saturday in Abidjan.

Two goals took Morocco to the World Cup from the Ivorian capital Abidjan. Morocco leads the Atlas Lions by 12 points from 3 wins and 3 draws, and the team scored 11 goals without conceding in the World Cup qualifiers.

In the 25th minute, Nabil Dirar’s cross announced the first goal.

The epic of Morocco did not end here. In the 30th minute, Mbark Boussoufa's corner kick turned to a goal by Mehdi Benatia, who ended the hopes of the Ivorians.

The Moroccan team held up throughout the game and even threatened the goal of Ivory Coast.

This is Morocco's fifth qualification to the World Cup, after the versions of 1970, 1986, 1994 and 1998.

Morocco's best result is qualifying for the 16th round in 1986.
