CAIRO – 6 November 2017: Boca Juniors defeated River Plate 2-1 on Monday at River’s Monumental Stadium, continuing their amazing run in the League.

The game started well for River Plate, who wanted to overcome their loss at the Copa Libertadores semi-finals last week.

River plate strikers had many chances to score the first goal, but Boca goalkeeper Agustín Rossi stopped all their attempts.

The turning point in the game was after 34 minutes, when River Plate midfielder Ignacio Fernández got a red card after a dangerous play against Boca winger Edwin Cardona. Cordona succeeded to score the first goal from this foul.

In the second half, Cordona got a red card after he used his elbow against River’s Enzo Perez. River Plate succeeded to equalize the score after a stunning strike from River’s captain, Leonardo Penzio, in the 69th minute.

Boca scored their second goal in the match three minutes later through a shot by Nahitan Nandez from inside the area.
Boca defeated their local rivals in the game known as SuperClasico, which is considered the toughest derby in the world.

Boca Juniors reached 24 points from eight games. They are on top of the table, without having lost any points.
