CAIRO – 3 November 2017: Manchester City’s Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus, revealed on Thursday that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was the reason behind his decision to sign with Manchester City.

“Guardiola called me up and said I would be a very important part of his project. This obviously made me feel wanted and was a big factor in helping me pick City as my next club," Jesus told Four Four Two magazine on Thursday.

Gabriel Jesus joined Manchester City in August 2016 from Brazil’s Palmeiras, and Man City paid the transfer fee, but the transfer was completed in January 2017.

Jesus recalled his first day at Manchester City, saying, “When I landed in Manchester, I came straight to the training ground; I didn't even go to my hotel. It was 18:00, and training had been in the morning, but Pep waited for me to arrive, and it was then I realised he's a different kind of manager.”

Jesus scored six goals in the Premier League this season to lead his team to the top of the table with 28 points, 5 points ahead of the second place team, Manchester United.
