CAIRO – 24 October 2017: Gianluigi Buffon was named Best Goalkeeper at the 2017 Best FIFA Football Awards in London.

Buffon, Juventus’ goalkeeper, beat Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas and Bayern’s Manuel Neuer.

Buffon picked up his eighth Serie A title with Juventus in 2016/17, and also helped them reach the Champions League finals, where they were beaten by Real Madrid.

“It is a great honor to receive this award at my age. I am proud of it but I want to say thanks to my club, my coach and team-mates because they help me to make it possible,” Buffon said.

“I want to say thanks to all the people who voted for me and I think that last year has been a fantastic season for Juventus but it was not enough to win in Europe. For this year I hope we can play better; with the national team and Juventus because I would like to finish with a victory.”

Buffon concluded; “I would love to finish football (my football career) with fantastic victories.”
