CAIRO – 18 October 2017: Former French international player Jonathan Zebina was sentenced to two years in prison for a tax-fraud offense, the French press said today.

Zebina, who is 39 years old, will also have to pay a fine of €10,000 ($11,767.50), said the public prosecutor in Avignon, Philippe Guémas.

Judged by the Court of Appeal in Avignon (southeast), the tax authorities demanded the payment of taxes from between 2011 and 2013.

Zebina was born in Paris on July 19, 1978, and after forming with Cannes made the leap to Italy. He began first in 1998 with Cagliari and then in the summer of 2000 with AS Roma.

His Italian stage continued with Juventus Turin and Brescia, from where he returned to France in 2011 with Stade Brestois. He continued with Toulouse and finally with Avignon until 2014, when he retired as a professional.

He wore the Blue shirt with France once in 2005, in a friendly match against Sweden.
