CAIRO – 9 October 2017: The Egyptian Ramadan Darwesh won the gold medal in Tashkent Grand Prix 2017 in Uzbekistan after defeating Niyaz Ilyasov of Russia on Sunday’s evening.
The former world bronze medal holder Egypt’s Ramadan Darwesh on the Tashkent Grand Prix for a second time as the top seed was the top performer in the -100 kg category.
Darwesh faced the Ekaterinburg Grand Slam silver medal holder the Russian Niyaz Ilyasov in the final of the competition, the Egyptian scored a waza-ari from a buzzer-beating uchi-mata with just a second left on the clock.
The Egyptian judo champion reached the 11th Grand Prix medal after his victory in Uzbekistan, the medals includes 4 gold medals, Darwesh had defeated in the semi-final of the championship Saidzhalol Saidov from Tajikistan the Asian Championships bronze medalist by a waza-ari score to take his place in the -100 kg final and guarantee a medal for Egypt as his country's lone representative in Tashkent.
