CAIRO - 18 September 2017: Real Madrid’s French manager Zinedine Zidane was happy his team defeated Real Sociedad Sunday night. The Frenchman was also impressed by Borja Mayoral’s performance in the game.

"We know that Real will get you into trouble if you leave space in the defensive line, they make things difficult but we put good players in our defensive line and managed to stop them," Zidane told the press after the victory.

Asked about Mayoral’s performance in the game, Zidane said: “Mayoral is here with us and has a role to play, he’s shown that today. He was given a chance and he’s done a great job. Not just with his goal, he put in a complete performance. I’m happy for him because he’s got a part to play for this team. It wasn’t an easy place to come, they’re tough opposition and we played a great game.”

Mayoral, 20, scored two goals in Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad at San Sebastian. The player led his team to victory after two straight draws against Levante and Valencia.

Mayoral is a Real Madrid academy product. He was promoted through the club ranks until 2016, when he went on loan to the German club, VfL Wolfsburg. His unsuccessful year at the German club ended with his return to Real’s first team this summer.
