CAIRO – 11 September 2017: Egypt’s women’s national handball team won on Sunday, September 10, the silver medal in the African Women's Handball Championship, held in Ivory Coast from September 4 to 10, 2017.

The Egyptian team was defeated by the Angolan national handball national team 29-19 in the final match. In the first half of the match, Angola won 19-8 against Egypt and continued its victory to the second half by 29-19.

Angola’s women’s national handball team achieved the golden medal in the African Women’s Handball Championship, while the Egyptian women’s national handball team won the silver medal. Both teams qualified to the handball World Cup finals.

Egypt’s women’s national team reached the final after a long marathon by defeating Congo 22-20, Algeria 28-20, and Mali 33-22 in the semi-finals that qualified them to the final against Angola and to the World Cup.
