Al-Ahly winning the Egyptian League last season - Reuters
CAIRO—10 September 2017: Al-Ahly ’s opening match at the Egyptian League’s new season against Al-Jaish will take place on Sunday at 8:15 C.L.T. at El-Salam Stadium. The team is working to once again win the title it was awarded the past two seasons.
Al-Ahly is missing three of their starring players: Saleh Gomaa, Momen Zakaria, and Ali Maaloul, who are all suffering from injuries.
Al-Ahly’s Manager, Hossam El Badry, signed on three new players ahead of the upcoming match with Al-Jaish. The three new players are Eslam Mohareb, Walid Azaro, and Hesham Mohamed.
Al-Ahly players that are expected to start the game against the Al Jaish team are Sherif Ekramy (GK), Hussein el-Sayed, Ramy Rabia, Saad Samir, Ahmed Fathy, Amr el-Solia, Hossam Ashour, Abd Allah Said, Walid Soliman, Ahmed el-Sheikh, and Walid Azaro.
On the other side, Al-Jaish Manager, Ahmed Samy believes in his team’s abilities to surprise Al-Ahly. “It is always tough to play against Al-Ahly, but we believe in our ability to play a good game and surprise Al Ahly,” he told the press.
Al Ahly holds the record of winning the Egyptian League, with 39 titles.
