CAIRO – 21 August 2017: Barcelona’s opening game in the Spanish League against Real Betis was more than a football game for the people of Barcelona. This game was the first to be played in Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona after last week’s terrorist attack.

Barcelona players wore shirts with their numbers but they used the name of the city “Barcelona “instead of their names to show their support to their beloved city and the victims’ families and friends. The game began with a moment of silence from both teams.

Barcelona won the game 2-0. Both the city and the team needed to show that they are still strong after the attack.

Four players from Barcelona’s starting squad were born in Barcelona; Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto, Gerard Deulofeu, Jordi Alba. Barcelona’s captain Lionel Messi arrived at the age of 13.

Barcelona fans packed the stands sending a message that the city will stand against terrorism. Among those fans was a guy wearing Arab traditional clothes. He held a message to show that Arab people are against all the terrorist attacks that happens all over the world.
