CAIRO – 17 August 2017: On August 17, 1994, Zinedine Zidane wore the blue jersey of France for the first time after he chose to play for France instead of the Algerian National Team.

Zidane took the first chance in the 63rd minute as a substitute in the match against Czech Republic as France was late 0-2, but Zidane turned the game upside down and scored two goals at 85’ and 87’ to end the game with a 2-2 draw.

France coach Aime' Jacquet was building his plans for the success of the national team on Manchester United super star Eric Cantona, but unfortunately the Frenchman got a 1 year suspension because of the famous accident of kicking a fan, so the coach had to change the team's plan and put Zidane as the playmaker.

Despite the wave of criticism the coach faced later, the team reached the semifinals of the 1996 UEFA European Championship, but the team lost to Czech Republic by penalty shootouts.
