CAIRO, 28 January 2025: The Egyptian handball team will take on France at 10 PM tonight, Tuesday, in the quarterfinals of the 29th World Championship, co-hosted by Croatia, Denmark, and Norway.

Led by Spanish head coach Juan Carlos Pastor, the Egyptian team aims to achieve a historic milestone by advancing to the semifinals through a challenging encounter against the French squad. The quarterfinal stage promises intense matchups, including Croatia vs. Hungary today, while Denmark faces Brazil and Portugal meets Germany tomorrow, Wednesday.

Egypt officially qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating Cape Verde 31-24 in their final main round match. The team had an outstanding run in the group stage, achieving a perfect record and topping their group. A notable highlight was their 28-24 victory over hosts Croatia, which secured first place in the initial round.

The group stage saw Egypt deliver dominant performances, starting with a 39-25 win against Argentina, followed by a 35-24 victory over Bahrain. Key players like goalkeeper Karim Hendawy, Ahmed Hesham Dodo, and Mohsen Ramadan shone throughout, with Ramadan earning the title of Player of the Match in one of the games.
