CAIRO, September 25, 2023: Al-Ahly team put one foot forward in the group stage of the African Champions League, after defeating St. George of Ethiopia by 3-0, during the match that brought them together on Sunday, at Cairo Stadium, in the first leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly’s three goals was scored by Hussein Al-Shahat in the 29th and 58th minutes and Ahmed Abdel Qader in the third minute of stoppage time for the match. So that the Red Giants took the first step in the journey of preserving the African Champions League title that they held from last year.
The 32nd round’s two matches between Al-Ahly and St. George will be held in Cairo, after the two clubs agreed on this. The failure to hold matches in Ethiopia due to the non-fulfillment of the requirements of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Ethiopian stadiums.
Al-Ahly’s lineup for the match included: Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mohamed Hani, Ramy Rabia, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Ali Maaloul, Marawan Attia, Aliou Dieng, Imam Ashour, Hussein El-Shahat, Percy Tao, and Mahmoud Kahraba.
