Al Ahly face Seattle Sounders in the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals

CAIRO, 4 February 2023: Egypt's Al-Ahly will enter a difficult test at 07:00 PM on Saturday evening against the American Seattle Sounders, the CONCACAF champion, at the “Ibn Battuta” stadium in the Morocco's “Tangiers” in the quarter-final round of the FIFA Club World Cup.
 
Al-Ahly qualified for the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup (Morocco 2022), after defeating the New Zealand team Auckland City 3-0 in the preliminary round, scored by Hussein Al-Shahat, Mohamed Sharif and Percy Tau.
 
FIFA revealed the refereeing staff for the match between Al-Ahly against the American team Seattle, led by the Englishman Anthony Taylor, assisted by the English duo Gary Beswick and Adam Noon, and the French Ning Magister, who will be the fourth referee.

The crew also includes Italian Massimiliano Irrati for video technology and is assisted by Jerome Brisard, in addition to Moroccan Redouane Ged and his compatriot Moqran Jourai.
 
The winner of the Al-Ahly and Seattle Sounders match qualifies to face Spanish Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the tournament, February 8.
 
Al-Ahly is participating in the 2023 FIFA World Cup, for the eighth time in its history, and for the third in a row, and the Red devils participated in 7 previous versions in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2020 and 2021.
 
Al-Ahly’s best results in the Club World Cup were winning the bronze medal on 3 occasions, in 2006 in Japan, 2020 in Qatar, and 2021 in the UAE.
