CAIRO, 10 May 2022: The Egyptian Football Association submitted an official objection against the decision of the Confederation of African Football, to choose the Casablanca stadium in Morocco, to host the final match of the African Champions League.

The match is expected to be between the Egyptian Al-Ahly, who set foot in the final, winning 4-0 against the Algerian team ES Setif, and the second party is expected to be the Moroccan club Wydad, who also put a foot in the final match, by defeating the Angolan team Petro Atletico.

CAF announced that it had received an offer from the Senegalese Football Association and the Royal Moroccan Football Association to host the 2022 CAF Champions League Final, after which the Senegalese Football Association withdrew its offer.

CAF said in its statement: "Therefore, CAF is pleased to award Morocco the hosting for the 2022 CAF Champions League final, and the final date is May 30, 2022."

And CAF added, in its statement: “Discussions are currently taking place within CAF to return to the old final, home and away, to determine the winner of the African Champions League, instead of the final in one leg.”

Al-Ahly club came close to qualifying for the African final after beating Algeria's ES Setif 4-0 in the first leg of the semi-final, as well as Morocco's Wydad, who won three goals away from Petro Atletico.
