CAIRO-8 January 2022: The Egyptian national team delegation landed in Garoua on Saturday afternoon to participate in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Upon arrival, the delegation underwent a COVID-19 test as per the regulations set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The Pharaohs will train in Garoua for the first time on Sunday, two days before their match against Nigeria in Group D.

“Garoua is a beautiful city with a fantastic weather. Cameroon is ready to host the competition and the stadiums are in a very good condition.” Medhat El Miligy, Egypt’s ambassador to Cameroon, said.

The Pharaohs play in Group D alongside Nigeria, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.

The Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua will host Egypt’s first two matches in the group and they will travel to the capital, Yaoundé, for their third match in the group against Sudan.

The Pharaohs are the record title-holders, having won the title on seven occasions and they hope to put their hand on the trophy after a 12-year hiatus.
