CAIRO-30 September 2021: The Carlos Queiroz’s era starts tonight at Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria, where Egypt will be facing Liberia in a friendly game.

The game will be the Pharaohs’ only test ahead of the crucial games against Libya in Cairo and Benghazi in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Portuguese manager will count on the domestic players in the game as the foreign-based players are set to join the camp after the game.

Egypt’s camp started in Alexandria on Tuesday with the participation of the 24 domestic players.

“The players that we called for the national team were the result of a very careful and deep study. I watched a lot of league matches. I am sure that the decisions we made will allow us to build a team for the two games against Libya.” Queiroz told press.

Queiroz is set to announce the team’s final list for Libya’s matches after Liberia’s match.

Egypt comes second in group F of the African World Cup qualifiers with four points, two points behind the group leaders, Libya.

Queiroz added “We have four points in our hands and it is our responsibility to improve and make it better. I must show all gratitude to Egyptian clubs and the coaches for their cooperation. They allowed us to have our mini camp.”

The game starts at 9:00 PM.
