Cairo, 08 April 2021. ElClásico, the most-watched club football match on the planet, is back. This Saturday, 10 April at 10pm EET, Real Madrid will host FC Barcelona in a pivotal battle in the 2020/21 LaLiga Santander title race, this time at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium for the first time in history. Just three points separate Atlético de Madrid and their ElClásico rivals at the top end of the table and, with just nine games left to play, this Saturday’s match promises to have a crucial impact on both teams' chances of making a bid for the top spot.

ElClásico is one of the longest-running and heated rivalries in world football and LaLiga's activations highlight the passion and intensity of the game. As such, in the days leading up to the match, LaLiga is organising a plethora of international actions to show that ElClásico takes over the world.

To symbolise LaLiga's global reach, it has installed 17 ElClásico flags in the most unpredictable places in order to surprise football-lovers in countries such as Egypt, right to the heart of the Black and White desert.

The campaign in Egypt brought together 2 LaLiga hardcore fans, a Chilean woman living in Cairo, Javiera Fotiñi Avalos, who supports Real Madrid since she was a child, and Islam Medhat, Egyptian Barça fan.

Both fans enjoyed a weekend in the desert, discovering and shooting in the most beautiful landscapes to bring the best shots to the global campaign.

“It´s impressive to come here with LaLiga. I am surprised how ElClásico spreasds across the entire world, I have been watching it since I was kid in Chile, and now that I live in Cairo, I see the passion for Spanish Football is shared globally, reaching everyone, even I could talk about Real Madrid with Bedouins in the desert who are really good fans”, Javiera Fotiñi Avalos added.

“It makes me even more proud to be Egyptian to be in such a unique place, both the Black & White deserts are exceptional and unbelievable, as it is the fact that even our guide knew all the facts and line ups of the last Barça matches. I am Barça fan since I was a kid thanks to MT older brother”, Islam Medhat commented.

Juan Fuentes, Delegate of LaLiga to Egypt, who chose the destination in Egypt, added: There are beautiful oasis and deserts in Egypt, such as Fayoum, Siwa, but I came here 6 years ago and I didn´t doubt it, if there was a place I wanted to bring this campaign, was the Black and White desert.

Additionally, LaLiga has quite literally taken the lounges where fans of ElClásico will watch the match and installed them on Mount Bromo, in the east of the island of Java, Indonesia; in a Boma of a Maasai tribe in Kenya; in the historic city of One Thousand and One Nights, Samarkand, in Uzbekistan; and set up a final lounge at the foot of the spectacular lake Eibsee in Germany.

ElClásico, one of the biggest sports shows on earth, with an audience of 650M people in every encounter, will be on the 10thth of April at 9PM Egyptian time.
