CAIRO – 1 March 2021: An increase in the number of the hot-air balloon rides has been witnessed, where more than 60 rides flew over the past week in Luxor city, Upper Egypt.

The rides carried 850 Egyptian and foreign tourists amid great optimism for an improvement in the turnout of tourists from around the world to visit Luxor during the next period.

In this regard, officials at the Hot-air Balloon Airport say that precautionary measures are strictly applied to protect tourist groups and balloon workers from infection with the Coronavirus, as it was recently decided that one balloon would leave with fewer tourists, in order to achieve social distancing.

Hot Air Balloon companies in Luxor Governorate recently received a notification that includes restarting the balloon and returning flights again, after the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities put in place a number of precautionary measures that must be adhered to by tourism companies specialized in this activity, foremost of which are precautionary controls related to sterilization procedures and wearing masks, and work with a capacity of 50 percent of the absorptive capacity, while taking precautions regarding social distancing.

The flights flew over the city's archaeological sites.

Hot-air balloon rides over the ancient wonders of Luxor are the tourists' favorite, as they get a chance to explore the city's spectacular landscape and famous landmarks.
