CAIRO – 14 June 2017: Egyptian sundried tomatoes make a great product for Europe to import, especially Italy and countries that prefer the Mediterranean cuisine.

Organic tomatoes grow healthily in Upper Egypt; however, due to the big change in pricing of tomatoes in the market, sometimes the collection and transportation cost of tomatoes exceeds the price of selling.

The farmer then makes the difficult decision of leaving high quality tomatoes to ripe in the farm and never collected.

Benefiting from the hot, dry weather in Luxor, Mahmoud Taha established his company, Agritech and provided job opportunities to the locals to collect, cut, and dry the tomatoes in the sun.

The high-quality sundried tomatoes were recognized by Italians and the yield is now exported to the Italian market.
