Cairo, Egypt, April 9, 2019 – Huawei, the leading global ICT solution provider, participates in one of the most prestigious discussion panels that took place at the first day of GFHS 2019. The discussion panel was under the theme “Fourth Industrial Revolution & Emerging Technologies” and was the only panel witnessed by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Mr. Andrew Williamson, Vice President for Strategic Planning at Huawei Technologies participated in the discussion panel along with H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications & Information Technologies Egypt (MCIT), and numerous experts and academia from the technological sector. The panel was also moderated by H.E. Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research.

During the panel, H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat emphasized on the importance for knowledge based economy and highlighted that the information is currently one of the natural resources for nations in our current era. The discussion panel covered several other topics including Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Autonomous Economy.

H.E. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi concluded the discussion panel with a strong message highlighting the importance for Egypt to join and participate in the fourth industrial revolution as the government’s current vision is to achieve a distinguished place for Egypt

“Despite the ubiquity of ICTs, economic productivity growth has disappointed in many countries across the world during this decade. What economists have termed ‘the productivity puzzle’. Huawei’s research with the London School of Economics and Political Science suggests that the major reason for this is an implementation lag as in previous industrial revolutions. Rather, we predict a productivity resurgence powered by new super innovations in 10-15 years’ time,” stated Mr. Williamson.

Huawei Solutions in GFHS 2019 Exhibition

Huawei unveiled its latest state-of-the-art technological solutions in Egypt such as Remote Classroom, Cloud Managed Campus and WIFI 6. The Remote Classroom Solution enables entities to provide smart education, distance learning and self-learning for both teachers and students. The solution supports the “Classrooms without Boarders” methodology.

The Cloud Campus platform is a feature rich solution superchargers efficiency and performance to support online education platform and hands-on training businesses with the robust scalability and capabilities of cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence. The WIFI 6 solution provide users higher bandwidth, larger capacity, low latency and lower power consumption to support for High density coverage and Virtual Reality Interactive classroom.

At the pavilion, Huawei presented a video about the “Fundamental Research & Basic Education” to showcase the importance of scientific research and education as a mean for nations to shine and excel. Research and development are the main factor for the corporate brand success as Huawei has invested more than 10% of its sales revenue in R&D every year. Huawei is currently one of the world’s largest patent holders and in 2018, more than 80,000 employees were involved in R&D, accounting for 45% of the total work force.
