CAIRO – 25 December 2018: In the recent period, Egypt has unearthed many archaeological discoveries, yet there is much more to be uncovered which gives a boost to tourism sector, German Egyptologist Dietrich Raue said on Monday.

During an interview with German broadcast DW, Raue added that these discoveries will give a boost to the tourism sector in Egypt.

"If you go to Egypt today, people respond appreciatively. It seems that a lot of people are considering going to Egypt as well at some point, because of these fascinating discoveries," he remarked.

Meanwhile, he warned that the urban sprawl and construction due to the growing Egyptian population threaten the cultural heritage.

"It is a race against time, and we’re grateful that we have the active support of the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities," he added.

He further remarked that his international research team consists of Egyptian archaeologists and conservators, students and members of staff from the University of Leipzig alongside a geophysicist who comes from Poland.
