CAIRO - 30 October 2018: Tourism Minister Rania el Mashat conferred on Tuesday with Head of World Committee on Tourism Ethics (WCTE) and former director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy in the presence of French Ambassador in Cairo Stefan Roumtier.

The meeting comes as part of the Tourism Ministry's plan to continue its contacts with international experts and foundations to draw on their expertise to upgrade the tourism sector.

The two sides discussed means of implementing the World Convention on Tourism Ethics which has been approved by the 22nd general assembly of the World Tourism Organization (WTO).

Mashat noted that the recent structural reforms that have been introduced by the ministry aimed at implementing the concepts of sustainable development and increasing the competitiveness of the tourism sector to cope with international orientations.

The minister also probed means of benefiting from Lamy's expertise to develop the tourism sector, adding that a committee of international experts in various fields will be formed to follow up the ministry's tourism promotion plan.
