CAIRO – 3 April 2017: Tourism in Egypt may see a comeback this summer, according to new statistics from British travel firm Thomas Cook. Tourism in Egypt has drastically declined since 2011’s January 25 Revolution, but Thomas Cook is seeing “early signs of recovery,”

The Sun reported

last week.

Summer bookings are already up after low rates in 2016, the story said, citing rock-bottom hotel prices as a likely reason for increasing interest in both Egypt and Turkey.

“After a slow start to the season and a tough year in 2016, we’re seeing early signs that customers are beginning to go back to Turkey and Egypt,” The Sun quoted Peter Fankhauser, chief executive of Thomas Cook, as saying.

The expected increase in tourism comes despite warnings from Britain’s Foreign Office regarding both countries.
