CAIRO - 31 July 2024: The Camel Racing Festival in El Alamein concluded Wednesday evening in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of the Emirates Camel Racing Federation.

The festival was crowned with two heritage rounds that revived the traditions of ancient camel racing, displaying scenes that filled the horizon hundreds of years ago.

In these rounds, which were designated to conclude the events that began on Tuesday and continued until Wednesday,  a total number of 1,600 camels participated in a race organized by the Egyptian Camel Federation under the auspices of the UAE Camel Federation.

The heritage rounds were distinguished by the participation of young, strong-bodied youth, who are often companions of camels and those responsible for serving them. These young men demonstrated their skills in driving and competing in an atmosphere reminiscent of the glory of ancient sports.

The organizing committee committed to imposing strict standards to ensure the safety of the participants, the most important of which is that the competitors are of legal age and in good health.

Before starting, each competitor wore the necessary protective equipment to ensure safety during the race. The curtain was drawn on the events in their final version for the fourth consecutive season. The El Alamein Camel Race attracted large numbers of followers and camel owners from all governorates of Egypt.
