A year or two ago, some social media posts went viral on Facebook and Instagram about a man in Alexandria selling fresca ‘a wafer-like Egyptian sweet snack’ in very neat and elegant clothes that everyone got curious to know his story. Youssef was seen around in Alexandria with his Fresca, all suited up like someone working in a large; corporate, confident, content, and doing his job with passion.
It was hard for those who spotted him on the street to pass by without noticing his high spirit and energy, it was all around him. Youssef started selling fresca at the age of 18 when his dad passed away. He received a scholarship, studied business administration, and worked as a customer service agent in one of the mobile operators but he felt he wanted to do something different, and this is when he decided to sell fresca but with a different style.
Sadly today, Youssef passed away at the age of 32 in a car accident. He left our world but left a good memory and example behind. Youssef, with his confidence and charisma, has taught everyone he has crossed paths with that it doesn’t matter what you do, but what matters is that you succeed at it, to be different, and to carry yourself with grace and integrity no matter how big or small your job is.
Youssef was a living proof that it is not your job that adds value to you, you add value to your job.
May his beautiful, shining soul rest in eternal peace.
