ECOMONDO AND KEY ENERGY 2021 KICK OFF TOMORROW WITH TENTH EDITION OF THE STATES GENERAL OF GREEN ECONOMY

Rimini (Italy), 25 th October 2021 – The Green Economy world is back, in physical form, at Ecomondo and Key Energy, Italian Exhibition Group’s two shows for the circular economy and renewable energies respectively.

The appointment is from tomorrow, Tuesday 26th October, to Friday 29th October, at the Rimini Exhibition Centre. With more than a thousand brands and 90% of the hall space occupied compared to 2019 levels, the two events will be exhibiting the latest technological innovations in the various green economy worlds and, in the conference agenda, utmost attention will be paid to the opportunities that the NRRP and the European Green Deal offer to companies and public administrations in Italy.

Ecomondo and Key Energy 2021 will open tomorrow morning at 10.30 in the South Hall. After greetings from IEG President Lorenzo Cagnoni and Rimini Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad, interventions are expected from Senator Barbara Floridia, Undersecretary of State for Education, the Honourable Ilaria Fontana, Undersecretary of State for Ecological Transition, and Emilia-Romagna Regional Councillor for the Environment, Soil and Coast Defence and Civil Protection, Irene Priolo.

On stage for the cutting of the ribbon ceremony will also be Corrado Peraboni, CEO of IEG, Fabio Fava, President of Ecomondo's Scientific Committee, Gianni Silvestrini, President of Key Energy's Scientific Committee, and Alessandra Astolfi, Group Exhibition Manager at IEG. The 10th edition of the States General of the Green Economy, promoted by the National Council for the Green Economy, will start immediately afterwards and will include a presentation of the 2021 Report on the State of the Green Economy in Italy. The document, explained by Edo Ronchi, President of the Foundation for Sustainable Development, analyses the results achieved in ten years and the strategic role of the green economy looking ahead to 2030 with a focus on digitalisation for the ecological transition. Some of the facts: to reach the climate neutrality objectives set by the European Green Deal, our country should reduce energy consumption by 15% and fossil fuel consumption by 40% within 2030, double renewable sources from 20 to 40%, and increase renewable electricity from 40 to 70%.

Italians are generally in favour of this, as the Ipsos survey, carried out on behalf of the Sustainable Development Foundation and Ecomondo, goes to show: according to 86% of those interviewed, ecological transition is an opportunity in terms of investment, innovation and new jobs. Key Energy’s inaugural conference is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 with an event dedicated to "Opportunities for Italy linked to the NRRP", during which a report, produced exclusively for the IEG show by Milan Polytechnic’s Energy Strategy Group, on the analysis of energy transition incentive policies contained in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and on the assessment of their effects on the Nation-System, will be presented.

Visiting Rimini Exhibition Centre will be extremely safe: all those attending the shows are required to exhibit a Green Pass (certifying that they have either been vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19). Anyone not in possession of a Green Pass will need to present a negative swab result. Other measures implemented in compliance with IEG's #Safebusiness protocol and GBAC STAR™ certification that allow for a peaceful stay at the exhibition include: compulsory use of a face mask, temperature measurement at the entrance and hand sanitizer gel dispensers available in all exhibition areas.
