So, every weekend people flee their Cairo routine to where summer is really happening, North Coast or ‘Sahel’. North Coast is one of Egypt’s most spellbinding destinations, thanks to its azure waters and smooth white-sand shores. There are two types of vacationers there, those who do it the ‘Old Sahel’ way, which is all about relaxing and unwinding, and there are those who choose to do it the ‘New Sahel’ way, which is mostly about partying and the trendy spots. We have to admit, the ‘New Sahel’ vibes are all chic, glam, and fun, but, here are a few hints on the hassle you will have to go through.

1. Two words sum it all ‘Aashan Nelhaa’
Or what it means, ‘so we can still catch…’ The new Sahel is a series of trying to catch everything before you run out of time, catching beach time, catching lunchtime, catching time to get ready before you need to catch the nighttime partying. Then while run and jump from one step to another, you might be lucky to ‘catch’ some real chilled summer vibes in between.

2. Your day depends on QR codes and well-fought for reservations
No, you can’t just nonchalantly walk in or book casually at any of the trending beaches and bars. If you have no QR code for access or some good connections to put your name on reservations, then, my friend, consider doing it the ‘Old Sahel’ way instead.

3. Queues followed by queues ending with queues
Your day is basically wasted in queues of cars on the way, queues at the gates, queues at the entrance, just a series of queues. Hang in there, you will eventually make it and reach your destination before the weekend is over!

4. Spending like the world ends tomorrow
Because whether you like it or not, you are spending. So, forget about the status of your bank account after you are back and enjoy that money while it lasts.

Disclaimer: The article does not mock nor is it judging the choices and preferences of those who prefer the trendy Sahel way of things. Maybe we just miss a little post-beach macaroni and chicken panne vibes like the good old days.
