Egypt’s Opera House to launch Mohammed Abdel Wahab Museum, Musical Instruments Museum on March 13

CAIRO – 10 March 2021: The Egyptian Opera House will open Mohammed Abdel Wahab Museum and the Musical Instruments Museum at the Institute of Arab Music free of charge to the public for a period of 6 days starting March 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in celebration of the birth anniversary of the Musician of Generations, Mohamed Abdel-Wahab.

 

 

The museum gives visitors the opportunity to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mohammed Abdel Wahab and learn about his life and musical accomplishments, where visitors will be greeted with his music and songs upon entry.

The museum is divided into several halls, one of which bears the name "Hall of Memories", and is divided into two wings. The first sheds light on Mohammad Abdel Wahab's childhood, upbringing and first steps in the world of Arab music and Egyptian cinema and his relationship with writers and artists, in addition to the awards and honors he received.

The second wing includes a number of the artist's private rooms, such as his bedroom, his private office, as well as a collection of his favorite pieces of furniture and some of his other personal belongings.

In the Cinema Hall, all the films he participated in screened are on special screens. Meanwhile, the Listening and Viewing Hall includes a complete library of his works, including music, songs, films, albums and his private photos with public figures and artists.

 

 

The visitor can browse through an electronic program implemented on touch screens.

 

 

Furthermore, the Musical Instruments Museum, which is also located in the Institute’s building, contains a collection of ancient instruments that were found during the restoration of the Arab Music Institute and were carefully renovated and displayed according to their nature.

 

 

This comes within the framework of the Egyptian Opera House’s keenness to commemorate the symbols of music and singing in Egypt and the Arab world, and to introduce the new generations to the genius who enriched artistic life in Egypt and the Arab world with his eternal innovations.

 

 

It is noteworthy that the opera’s celebrations marking the birthday of Mohamed Abdel Wahab resumes throughout the month of March. Several concerts including an anthology of his music will be held on March 13, 18, 21 and 28.
